Cancellation policy

* This page is only about cancellations. For safety measures against Covid-19 please see the FAQ on this page.

COVID-19 CANCELLATIONS:

FAIR REFUND POLICY

In case you can’t do your trip because of Covid-19 (this includes also if you aren’t allowed to leave your region/country or enter the region/country where the ship is):

  • Please get in touch as much in advance as possible.
  • We will send you a voucher for the full amount you paid. This voucher doesn’t have an expiration date and is not limited to bookings on your name.
  • If you have financial difficulties, you can get in touch and we’ll consider a money refund.

In case your trip gets cancelled because of Covid-19 regulations/restrictions/related issues:*

  • We will let you know as much in advance as possible.
  • We will send you a voucher for the full amount you paid. This voucher doesn’t have an expiration date and is not limited to bookings on your name.
  • You are legally entitled to get a full money refund of any portion of the voucher you haven’t used after 12 months of the cancellation, but since the voucher doesn’t expire, we kindly ask you to keep the voucher, for whenever you want to do the trip, or to give someone the best present of their lives.
  • Nevertheless, if before that date you have financial difficulties, you can get in touch and we’ll consider an early money refund.

*First of all, please rest reassured that we will try to carry out our trips as planned. For example, in case a maritime festival gets cancelled, we will try to still do the trip in the same dates and in the same locations, cancelling the trip will be the last resource.*

We hope you understand this policy and find it fair.

These terms apply as an improvement of our normal cancellation policy (see below), but if you prefer those other terms, you can adhere to them instead.

NORMAL CANCELLATIONS:

If you need to cancel your trip(s) for any reason, you can get a refund according to the following percentages:

  • 100% (FREE CANCELLATION) within the first 15 days of booking your trip.*
  • 90% if you cancel 5 months before the trip’s start date.
  • 50% if you cancel 3 months before the trip’s start date.
  • 25% if you cancel 1 month before the trip’s start date.
  • 0% if you cancel less than a month before the trip’s start date.

* If the trip starts in less than 15 days after the booking (last minute bookings), free cancellation is reduced to 3 days.

If you don’t want to be bounded by this policy, you can get a travel insurance that covers cancellations. For example, the insurance company “TopSail” offers a Tall ship specific policy that costs about ~31€ for a 7-14 days trip.

You can also do the following at any time:

  • Get your money back by finding a person to replace you.
  • Gift your trip to a family member or a good friend (#bestPresentEver).
  • Donate your trip to our Financial Aid Fund which will give someone from an underprivileged background the opportunity to take your spot.
