Take a Voyage On A Sailing Ship With Atyla Ship Foundation
What is a sailing ship?
A sailing ship is one of the oldest forms of traveling on the water. Sailing ships work by utilizing the natural winds that occur at large bodies of water. Sails are movable, allowing them to catch the wind and propel the ship in the desired direction. Sailing ships have varied throughout history in size and design. While they were the predominant vessel for sea travel prior to the steam engine, they are still used today for recreational and commercial purposes.
What is Atyla?
Atyla Ship Foundation is named after our sailing ship, Atyla. First launched in 1984, the ship has sailed all over the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Our ship has 9 sails, accounting for a total surface area of 400 square meters. Further, it has been maintained over the years and features modern amenities such as electric heat, hot water, and a full kitchen. These amenities are useful for hosting parties, day trips, and most notably, sailing adventures available for anyone willing to do the work.
What are Atyla’s sailing trips?
Atyla began hosting sailing adventures in 2014, which quickly became a popular service. This prompted the creation of the Atyla Ship Foundation charity in 2016, which allows us to raise money, promote, and fund trips all over Europe. A trip on our sailing ship is unique. Rather than a luxurious cruise, we ask that you take part in the experience of being a part of the crew. While this work is difficult and challenging, that is all part of the experience. Our adventure sailing trips bring people together from all over the world, bound by a cooperative spirit and common goal. We value developing important life skills in a multicultural, supportive, and collaborative environment. To this end, we welcome anyone to take up this life changing opportunity.
