How was it before?<\/h3>\n

Until 2021 we gave everyone on board a bedding set (fitted sheet + duvet + blanket + pillowcase).<\/p>\n

Why was that a problem?<\/h3>\n

[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text ul_type=”circle” _builder_version=”4.16″ locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n

After every trip, our permanent crew had to wash a big amount of bed sheets. This was one of the most time-demanding tasks they had in port.<\/p>\n

There are many other tasks in port, most of them more important (shopping for food, refuelling the water tanks, welcoming the new participants…)<\/p>\n

We also like to do open doors and events on board when we stop, which forces us to bring the sheets to a laundromat and put them in a drying machine. This takes even more time and is not very eco-friendly.<\/p>\n

How is it now?<\/h3>\n

We ask our participants to bring a sleeping bag (or bedsheets + blanket for a 90cm bed) and a pillowcase with them to use during their time onboard.<\/p>\n

If you can’t do this, you can get a full set of bedclothes from onboard for 35\u20ac. Click here to pay for it<\/a>. Please do this in advance so that the crew can prepare them.<\/p>\n

To show that the motivation behind this is not economic, those 35\u20ac will be used for our Scholarship Fund<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Human sustainability<\/h3>\n

Sustainability is at the heart the Atyla ship Foundation. We try to contribute to our environment, not damage it.<\/p>\n

Our environment also includes the people involved with the charity, and the crew is a very important part of it because they keep our program<\/a> alive and they make the experience on board what it is.<\/p>\n

That’s why we want to make the experience sustainable for our crew, so that it can add value to their lives, and keep them healthy and happy.<\/p>\n
